The term "World Music" was coined during the 80s as a way for the music industry to define any type of foreign or non-Western music. World Music does not include Western popular music, Classical music, or Latin music. So what is it? Well, we define World Music as traditional indigenous music from any other culture around the world. This includes Algerian and Moroccan music, traditional Japanese music, Bollywood, and Reggaeton. Some of our most popular World Music artists are: Beenie Man, Bob Marley, 12 Girls Band, and Born Jamericans.
